Margot was appointed Chair of Internet Matters in 2020. Internet Matters is a not-for-profit organisation that has a simple purpose – to empower parents and carers to keep children safe in the digital world.
At Internet Matters parents and professionals can find the most comprehensive and credible resources, information and support to keep children safe online.
Through a range of initiatives, campaigns, and ongoing collaboration with partners, in the last year, Internet Matters received around 5.2 million visitors to the site. After visiting, 83% of parents said that they felt better prepared to handle online issues with their child in the future and 80% said it is one of the first places they’d look for information. 9 out of 10 parents said they would recommend Internet Matters as a trusted resource.

“As the period covered by our 2020 report came to an end, the world changed. The advent of a global pandemic drove more children online than ever before – to stay connected to friends and loved ones, for education as the schools closed, and for entertainment as staying in became the new going out.
This year has shown us that more than ever connected technology is an incredible force for good – it has underpinned the lives of children and adults alike. The detriment caused to those children without online access during this time has been a severe hardship.”
